My New Coffee Routine: Organic Cubano Roast, Fresh Grinding, and Simple Café-Style Drinks at Home
Coffee hasn’t always been part of my day, but lately it has become part of my mornings—slower, more intentional mornings. The change didn’t come from complicated equipment or trendy add-ins. It came from grinding fresh, choosing quality beans, and simplifying how I make coffee at home.

This is the exact setup I’m using now, how I drink my coffee most days, and the different ways you can use the same tools to create café-style drinks without overthinking it.
The Foundation of My Coffee Routine
At the center of this routine are two essentials: a reliable burr grinder and a bold high-quality bean. Everything else builds from there.
The Shardor Burr Coffee Grinder
Grinding freshly makes an immediate difference. A burr grinder creates a consistent grind, which leads to smoother extraction and better flavor—no bitterness and no flat taste.

The Shardor burr grinder fits easily into a daily routine. It’s compact, quiet, and simple to use, which means it actually gets used instead of sitting on the counter untouched.
Mayorga Organic Cubano Roast – Dark Roast
These are the beans I reach for daily. Mayorga’s organic Cubano roast is bold and rich, with deep chocolate and smoky notes that feel comforting without tasting burnt.
This dark roast holds up beautifully with milk and cream, making it ideal for both everyday coffee and espresso-based drinks.

How I Drink My Coffee Most Days
Most mornings, I keep it simple and comforting. This is my go-to combination:
- Fresh-ground Cubano roast coffee
- A splash of whole milk
- Heavy whipping cream for body and richness
- A small amount of evaporated milk for that classic, velvety finish
- A splash of pure vanilla extract
- A teaspoon of extra-virgin coconut oil for smooth energy and fullness
No syrups. No artificial flavors. Just a balanced cup that feels complete.
Different Ways to Make Coffee With This Setup
One of the reasons this routine works is its flexibility. The same grinder and beans can be used for different styles depending on the day.
Espresso
Finely ground and brewed short for a bold, concentrated cup.
Cappuccino
Equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and foam—light and classic.
Latte
More steamed milk with a smoother, creamier finish.
Flat White
Espresso with silky milk and minimal foam for a clean taste.
Iced Coffee
Brew strong, cool completely, and pour over ice with milk or cream.
Cold Foam Iced Coffee
Iced coffee topped with lightly frothed milk or cream for a soft, luxurious texture.
Froth or No Froth
Use a frother when you want a café feel, or skip it for a calm, no-fuss cup.
Why This Coffee Routine Works
This routine stays consistent because it’s practical and easy to maintain:
- Fresh-ground coffee improves flavor immediately
- A bold Cubano roast pairs well with milk and cream
- Real dairy adds richness without syrups
- Fewer decisions make the routine effortless
It feels indulgent without being excessive, and traditional without being rigid.
A Simple Coffee Ritual That Sticks
This coffee routine isn’t about trends or collecting gadgets. It’s about slowing down just enough to enjoy something familiar in a better way. Fresh-ground Cubano roast, a cup made exactly how you like it, and the freedom to switch things up when the mood changes.
Once you find a routine that works, you stop chasing the next thing. You make your own coffee—and enjoy it.
Simple. Grounded. Repeatable.
