Your front porch is the public face of your home
We should welcome family and guest with a beautiful and comfortable outdoors sitting area / front porch. Let’s create wonderful memories on the front porch. Even with a small area and a small budget there’s ample opportunity to transform and improve curb appeal.
Here’s what I started with. I had a very simple sitting area on my front porch, it just never felt inviting. I shopped my home to create a more inviting space.
My front porch is pretty small more or less a 5 x 10 area, which is why I kept the three piece sitting set up. It’s a great space to have your morning coffee, tea or an evening cocktail (just saying). Choose lightweight, low profile furniture for your front porch. This way you can move furniture as needed and make use of dual purpose pieces. To anchor your furniture and a cozier feel add an outdoor area rug.
I kept three items I already had in this area. Can you find them?
- The white pot with the succulent’s
- The small round table.
- Large clay pot.
The items I used to create this space I moved from my backyard patio to my front porch.
A small area can easily look and feel cluttered and uninviting. Only include pieces with a purpose and charm. To soften edges add greenery. Use appropriate size containers and hues to tie in together your color scheme and blend your landscape.
- Three piece resin wicker two person sitting with cushions (Wayfair)
- 5 x 7 indoor/ outdoor rug (Ross dress for less)
- 9′ Outdoor tilt umbrella (Walmart)
- cast iron umbrella stand (Walmart )
- Kimberly Queen Fern (Homedepot)
- Coasters (Bed Bath and Beyond)
In front of the porch I have a garden bed. That’s why you see all these uneven large plants. I do want to keep some of the privacy the plants provide. I love the secluded feeling, it’s kind of peek a boo behind the garden sitting area. I’m currently working on a plan for the garden.
