This faux fireplace gives us the look and feel of a real fireplace but at a fraction of the cost.

This fireplace is made to be move-able so if you decide you are done with it, you can move it to storage or to a different room/wall. Or you can make it a more permanent fixture in your home.

For this project you will need:
- Mantel (Pearl Mantel ) https://amzn.to/3cJPIzL
- Faux Hearth ( 12 in. D x 72 in. L wood shelf)
- Faux brick (HDF Kingston Brick Panel cut in half )
- Brad Nailer ( plus nail )
- Drill (plus screws )
- Paint ( Behr premium plus in super white )
- 3/4 in nap rough surfaces paint roller
- Paint roller frame
The Mantel we choose is the Pearl Mantels 520-48 Berkley MDF Fireplace Mantel in White
Pearl Mantels have plenty of different colors, styles and sizes to choose from. ( follow mantels installation manual ) to build and attach mantel to wall. I attached my mantel with two Everbuilt eye hooks long enough to reach my wall over the chair rail. This was my specific situation due to me not wanting to remove our chair rail and because I want to be able to move the fireplace to another wall after the Holidays.
For the hearth I used the Organic Ash Laminated wood shelf 12 in. D x 72 in. L by Rubbermaid
Rubbermaid has various colors and finishes to choose from. The mantel is sitting on top of the hearth, which I just laid on our floor ( not attached to anything ) .
Greenery pictured next to the hearth is a bonus garland How to.
Faux brick is the HDF Kingston Brick Panel 1/4 in. x 96 in. cut in half I had the store cut the HDF panel.
After putting together my Berkley pearl mantel ( super easy ) I white washed the HDF panel with the Behr paint in Super White. This means I added water to my paint to thin out the paint. If you prefer the standard red brick behind the mantel you can skip painting or white washing the brick panel.
Once the paint on the brick dried I placed the HDF panel against the wall behind the mantel. I did not attach the panel to the wall nor did I attach it to the mantel. You can attach the panel to either if you plan on making your fireplace a permanent structure. At this point I used my brad nailer to attach the scribe molding to the inside edges of my mantel to hide any gaps between the mantel and the brick panel.
And that’s it Easy Peasy!
Fair warning, I do not have small children that can hang from my mantel. If you do I advice you attach all parts by following the Pearl Mantels manual instructions.
Bonus: How to make your Garland look full DIY
If your garland looks like this!
How do I make my garland lush and fluffy?
By adding greenery or any flower picks, whichever color and textures you want you can make a simple garland look lush and fabulous.
This was a last minute DIY so I stopped at the Walmart and picked up the very few greenery picks they had and some command hooks.
Check out my https://www.liketoknow.it/LolaMojica for links to my favorites!
I think I got lucky!
I simply stuck the picks into the base garland. No glue no zip ties needed. Some picks needed me to wrap a branch of the base garland around it for better hold, that worked perfectly for me.
I fluffed the Boxwood picks in between the base garland but kept the pick in tack as well as the Amaranthus picks. The Baby’s breath picks I did pull apart from the pick and scattered the pieces through out the garland. You can keep the Baby’s breath pick in tacked if you prefer. I only found two Baby’s breath picks so I had to pull mine apart.
I found two Amaranthus picks and eleven Boxwood picks. It does looks great as is but if I find more Amaranthus and Baby’s breaths picks I’ll use more for an even fuller look.
I choose to keep my garland more natural looking with greens and whites. But you can go all out if the budget allows you. Add Christmas ornaments, flowers and ribbon the options are endless check me out on Pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/’lolamojica for more ideas .
Have fun creating my dear!
XOXO!
Have a Blessed and Fabulous Holiday Season.
